Mini Poll: Thursday Night Football

Several years ago, we quoted George Will, a baseball man, saying that football combines the worst two things about America: violence, punctuated by committee meetings. Some of you subsequently wrote mean things about him.

Whether or not you agree with Will, football season is again upon us in St. Louis.

Snake lines of young players can be spotted running through the streets around City schools. A young franchise-type quarterback, a fleet of speedy receivers, a stout pass defense, and a veteran (and very mustached) coach are attracting a lot of attention out at Rams Park. Tailgaters are bolting grills to their pick-ups and stocking wings in their freezers. And harried techs are busy connecting woofers to tweeters as sofa coaches warm up their new plasma screens in time for Thursday night’s nationally televised Rams game.

Face it: it's beginning to look a lot like football.

This week's poll, which you are reading while the St. Louis Rams are still undefeated at home, asks you to think about football, the hometown team, the Edward Jones Dome, and a new stadium.

Answer our poll and we will try to smuggle you in to the owners' box.
