Mini Poll: Spring Break Broke?

Spring Break - at least the version of that annual holiday presented by MTV and a trailer-load of teen-themed movies - is a time to let loose on a sunny beach and re-hue your winterized skin. Another Spring Break - the version increasingly presented to local parents and their college-bound offspring - is a time to do some good works in another country (and burnish up the extra-curricular activities section of that application to the downtown Lindenwood or to Washington University.) A third Spring Break - the one likely more familiar to most MayorSlay.com readers - is a pre-summer holiday that exchanges the vagaries of March and April weather in Tower Grove East and Holly Hills for the dependable sunshine in Destin or Cancun.

This year's Spring Break, though, arrives with some alarming caveats. The economy is tough, "job security" is starting to sound oxymoronic, and both Anderson Cooper and the US State Department are warning us about violence in some sunny climes south. Will this affect your Spring Break plans?

MayorSlay.com wants to know, what, exactly makes a great Spring Break? Does it include cleaning out the garage, or hopping on a plane for a week-long getaway? Are you eschewing the scuba gear to pick up a hammer for a service-oriented excursion? Are you heeding the warnings about avoiding the drug-related violence in Mexico? And, in a compelling recasting of the old light bulb jokes, how many adults are enough when taking teenagers on a trip?

Tell us your thoughts about Spring Break, and we promise to beg Channel 2 weatherman Dave Murray to bring a warm front through the St. Louis area.
