Is there any real reason to question the increase of the average temperature of the world's oceans or to doubt that continuing to drive, farm, discard, and manufacture in the same way is a reasonable reason to project the continuation of such warming?
Well, apparently, to some people there is. And Congress, the White House press room, the floor of the United Nations, movie theaters, cable news shows, the blogosphere and even children's books have become the venues at which the arguments, pro- and con-, are being aired.
MayorSlay.com is not a climatologist or a penguin, but we pretty much agree with the junior US Senator from Minnesota, Amy Klobuchar, who recently testified to her colleagues that the most recent December in Minneapolis "felt more like October." Same here, Senator!
But, maybe, you like other elected officials and some captains of industry think that the science supporting the assertion of global warming is overstated. Or, maybe, you like some of those same officials think that regulatory measures like mandatory caps on greenhouse gas emissions are too drastic or too expensive.
As the debate about our environment continues to heat up, this week's Mini-Poll wants to register your opinion on the subject (and science) of global warming and to let you suggest some national priorities just as if you were the junior US Senator from Missouri. (And if you are already the junior Senator, give 'em hell, Claire!)
The rest of you: Grab your bikini or speedo, sun block and floaties but don't sweat the answers. At the end of day, this Mini-Poll is just for fun.
