Judge Dierker's Ruling

Today's ruling by Judge Dierker is only preliminary. But, on the fundamental issue, the judge ruled the City can create its own pension plan without state approval.

That is a very important ruling for taxpayers, and for our City.

In other parts if the ruling, the judge also affirmed our fundamental positions.

We're still studying the ruling. We may have to amend the ordinance to comply with the judge's order.

But, it creates a path-- a local path--to stop the enormous cost increases in FRS, while being fair to taxpayers and firefighters.

That is a good thing.
