Re-opening the Grand Bridge

Today, we celebrated the reconnection of north and south Grand by formally rededicating the Grand Bridge. This was a major infrastructure project designed to better connect our City’s north and south sides for drivers, pedestrians, and those who use public transportation. This bridge has the capacity for increased traffic and will be more useful, comfortable, and attractive for all its users.

I thanked the many businesses, the universities, and hospitals along Grand for their cooperation during the construction period. And I thanked commuters who waited (usually) patiently for the project to be completed.

As traffic patterns settle in, city and state transportation officials will work on intersections at each end of the bridge to make it a great bicyclists' connection, too.
