From the home office:

Forest Park Forever, in conjunction with the City of St. Louis Department of Parks, Recreation & Forestry and the Saint Louis Fire Department, is planning its second attempt this year at a 14 acre controlled burn in the Deer Lake Natural Area. Assuming the weather cooperates, Forest Park Forever is hopes to conduct the burn this tomorrow afternoon, December 2, 2011.

We have worked closely with the Saint Louis Fire Department and received permission from the Saint Louis Division of Air Pollution Control to perform this task. The burn will help maintain the vitality and health of the savannas and prairies far more effectively than mowing or taking no action. Forest Park neighbors and businesses within a one-half mile radius of the park have been notified of the burn.

Forest Park Forever will be sure to keep you updated with the most current information as it becomes available. As always feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. Should you wish to observe the burn, parking will be available at the twin lots across from the Edward & Judith Jones Visitor and Education Center.
